Assistant Quantitative Trader

Apex Capital, a multi-strat trading and investment firm in NYC, is hiring for the role of Assistant Quantitative Trader. The successful candidate will be a recent college graduate with a quantitative background, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a passion for applying statistical and machine learning techniques to large-scale data analysis. The role will involve analyzing extensive sets of proprietary and market data to extract new trading signals, and backtesting those signals to develop new algorithmic strategies and refine existing ones. It is important to note that all of Apex's datasets are too large to be analyzed by hand or in Excel; as a result, the successful candidate will be enthusiastic about spending a significant fraction of his/her time programming. Although the new hire will begin under the supervision of Apex's quant trading department, the role will become increasingly autonomous as experience is gained. We envision that the successful candidate will eventually work in the capacity of pursuing new ideas independently and running the resulting strategies in his/her own book. Necessary Qualifications: · B.S. degree in a quantitative field · Experience with statistical methods, particularly as they apply to time series data · Experience with machine learning methods · Experience with programming and the desire to use programming on a day-to-day basis · Experience working with large datasets · A strongly entrepreneurial mindset Bonus Qualifications: · Experience working with financial time series, including tick-level historical market data · Experience with java and C++ · Experience with backtesting algorithmic trading or portfolio management strategies
