As a member of the Global Communications & Public Affairs team, you will work cross-functionally to help communicate with journalists and other thought leaders; devise specific communications materials and campaigns based on understanding of journalists' interests; engage in face-to-face meetings with commentators and other opinion formers; develop print and web-based material supporting these campaigns; and counter misinformation that might interfere with our business and ability to serve our users. We're looking for great communicators who can understand complex issues and explain them in person and also via well written, simple blog posts, FAQs, video scripts and more.

Waze has an exciting path ahead with new product features and ongoing launch and branding efforts in nascent countries. Reporting to the Waze Head of Brand and Global Marketing, and working closely with the Communications Manager for the Americas, you will have the opportunity to own EMEA and APAC corporate and consumer communications programming. You're comfortable developing proactive Waze campaigns that inspire brand love and contribute to company growth, as well as doing the day-to-day work that keeps the communications engines running and approach both with the same veracity.

A Waze Communications role is unique; the function operates mostly autonomously but with support from Google on miscellaneous international projects. This is a chance to wear many hats and work in a fast-paced, collaborative startup environment while building relationships inside Google, too. The Growth team often works from the field and out of the office. This is a role that will be asked to step in to represent Marketing on a moment's notice to keep cross-functional and international programs on.

It's our job to help inform and educate users, advertisers, partners, opinion leaders--and our own employees--about the benefits of Google's products, our distinctive company culture/values, and our approach to the big public policy issues of the day. We are looking for quick-witted, entrepreneurial and intellectually curious people to join the team. To succeed here, you'll need to be able to combine creativity with the organizational skills to manage numerous different projects to tight deadlines simultaneously, as well as enjoy pitching to all kinds of journalists, bloggers and commentators (we find it hard too!), or producing internal communications and events for our employees. Things happen quickly at Google and to get stuff done here you need to be an enthusiastic team player - a self-starter who can work cross-functionally and isn't frightened to take risks or try out new ways of doing things.


Spark Waze love by building creative yet effective communications plans and strategy for EMEA and APAC. Maintain awareness.
Coordinate across internal teams and external clients to own project launch communications from strategy to execution, specifically supporting app version updates, new feature releases, large scale external partnerships, data-driven campaigns and more.
Work with global agency partners to develop creative PR programming that scales, driving downloads and active users. Identify incredible technology, people and corporate stories within Waze and support broader corporate storytelling efforts.
Produce content such as press releases, presentations, messaging documents, b-roll and more. Work closely with Marketing Designer to create app artwork, infographics, and other visual storytelling assets.
Serve as an internal resource for product and business teams, providing strategic positioning, speakers training and counsel as needed as the voice of the business.


Minimum qualifications:
7 years of PR experience including 3 years of focus on EMEA and/or APAC communications.

Preferred qualifications:
Experience as an Account Head at a PR agency or experience managing a PR agency including agency review, annual budget procurement/management, development of strategic plans and driving a team toward performance metrics aligned with the core business
Experience organizing and pushing a program forward, identifying a clear path for all parties and keeping the group on time and on goal.
Start-up mentality: efficient worker who thrives when working across internal and external parties, often with blurry project definition. Ability to switch gears in the wake of rapidly-changing priorities, while ensuring no projects slip through the cracks.
Excellent communications skills. Polished yet conversational writer with attention to detail and a fear of flowery, corporate language. Ability to condense large amounts of technical information into bite-size pieces that are easy to share and understand.
Comfortable working across multiple time zones. Willing to travel up to 15%.
